The working blacksmith’s shop is housed in converted coaching stables that were originally located at Duvauchelle.
The shop is part of a special collection of relocated heritage buildings from Banks Peninsula including a tōtara slab cottage, slab stables, Trustcott’s Saddlery, and Churchill Cottage.
On Waitangi Day, the blacksmith’s shop is fired up and visitors can get a feel for what it was like to put in a day’s work in this very hot environment! The blacksmith’s shop houses an extensive collection of blacksmithing tools, many donated by local businesses and individuals.
